The Cosmos
When viewing the great desert, high mountains, glaciers, oceans, and the best of all, the cosmos, an extraordinary tranquillizing effect arises. In comparison to infinite space, the differences between individuals diminishes. The anxiety associated with being too short, fat, skinny, tall, are mitigated. In comparison to infinite time, the exaggerated sense of importance of our own projects, concerns, and miseries bound to our ambitions , diminishes. Viewing into the cosmos confronts us with the force of eternity, and relieve us of the anxiety stems from the comparisons we make in the social hierarchy
